Rhinoplasty for Traumatic nasal Deformity

Abstract
The surgical treatment of the traumatic nasal deformity nasal deformity has been focused on correction of the deviation and improvement of nasal function. The approach of rhinoplasty is divided into open structure and endonasal approaches.
Nowadays,
open structure rhinoplasty become more popular, but endonasal approach is still more commonly favored in primary and revision rhinoplasty. The authors retrospectively reviewed 26 patients in whom rhinoplasties were perfomed at the otolaryngology
department of Korea Veterans Hospital from April 1993 to March 1995.
@ES The results were as follows :
@EN 1) The patients were mostly in their third decades (30.8%) and male predominantly(92.3%).
2) The types of deformity included C-shape deformity in 16 cases (61.5%), hump nose in 7 cases (26.9%), and saddle nose in 4 cases (15.4%).
3) The approaches of rhinoplasty employed were endonasal in 16 cases (61.5%) and open structure in 10 cases (39.5%).
4) the surgical procedures were as following : corrective rhinoplasty in 22 cases (76.9%) : tip rotation in 3 cases (11.5%) : augmentation rhinoplasty in 2 cases (7.7%) : hump removal in l case (3.8%) : implantation of columella strut in 2 cases
7.7%).
5) the hump removal were done by rasping in 4 cases (57.1%) and osteotomy in 3 cases (42.9%).
6) The materials used for augmentation or columella strut were silastic block in 4 case (60.0%), silastic block with temporalis fascia in l case (12.5%), septal cartilage in 2 cases (25%) and iliac bone with ear cartilage in l case (12.5%).
